Siketa Meats History

Bruno Siketa was a young Croatian migrant rabbiting in Dartmore when an opportunity to become a butcher’s apprentice fell his way… literally. Bruno saw that a lorry had over turned tipping its load of pigs. Along with another local farmer, Bruno helped chase and reload the farmer’s produce. Bruno was offered an apprenticeship in recognition of his help and kindness, and from this a proud family tradition was born in Geelong. Siketa Meats butchers established by Bruno Senior, is now managed by Bruno’s son Tony, along with the Siketa Meats Staff and Family, and has become a Geelong institution for over 50 years.

Siketa Meats butchers in Geelong started in a small shopfront next door to it current location in Hughes Street Bell Park. Customers used to line up amongst the fresh produce awaiting attention from the skilled staff working in the back. Today, Siketa Meats is still filled with loyal customers that travel far and wide to experience the Siketa Meats quality products and small goods that continue to be made the traditional way. With over 50 years of tradition and quality, Siketa Meats butchers continues to provide great produce, delicious cuts of meat, and European Small Goods including their original, and spicy cevapcici.
